Sexual assault among female undergraduate student respondents is 23.1 percent. (Cantor, Fisher, Chibnall, Townsend, Lee, Bruce, and Thomas, 2015, 2017). According to UConn’s 2018 fact sheet, there were 23,845 undergraduate students at UConn in total the previous year. Of those 23,845 students, 51% were female. That’s about 12,161 female student undergraduates on UConn’s campuses. In other words, about 23.1% of those women (2,810) women experienced sexual assault as an undergraduate at UConn.
1 in 10 female students at UConn say they have been sexually assaulted. All of the reported assaults took place on campus or nearby, such as at an apartment, restaurant or bar. ( The CT Mirror, 2016)
64.8% of students say that students from UConn have attempted to sexually assault them, while 10.9% says a person from the community has attempted to sexually assault them. Together that is 75.7%. (UConn HEDS survey, 2015)
31.3% of students say that when they did experience at one time sexual assault it occurred off campus at an apartment, restaurant, bar or another nearby location. (UConn HEDS survey, 2015)
